Among the countries in Southeast Asia, the two countries that people usually want to
visit are Singapore and Malaysia, specifically in Kuala Lumpur.
Despite its massive landmass, Kuala Lumpur is actually one of the most inexpensive
capital cities in the entire world because most of what you see here are being offered
services at really affordable prices.
A bit of background about me. I am a backpacker and I usually go to places to
experience the good things in life. A lot of my friends recommended that I go to KL
simply because of its diverse cultural and historical heritage.
Although I didn’t get it myself, my friends actually recommended the girl escorts in the
city because they are lovely and sweet.
If you are planning to go to Kuala Lumpur- whether or not, you are a backpacker like
me- you want to read the rest of the article to find out the best things that you can do in
Climb to the Top
Although this place is not entirely within the city as it is an hour-ride away, the Batu
Caves are certainly one of the sure things to do in Kuala Lumpur.
The caves are actually made of limestone and inside, you can find plenty of temples
that are built to honor certain gods.
When you arrive at the place, you will instantly find the gigantic statue of Lord Murugan,
as well as the iconic rainbow-colored steps that you’ve probably seen in some
The steps are quite long at 272 but the experience here cannot be trumped anywhere
else in Southeast Asia.
Pay Your Respects at the Monument
Malaysia has been invaded by European colonial powers back in the day and it was
only until a couple of decades ago that the country has achieved full independence.
To honor the brave heroes who have fought for the country’s freedom, the huge bronze
statue located at the National Monument should also be one of the things that you
The bronze monument is actually the largest bronze sculpture in the entire world. The
vicinity is also quite good as you can observe what the locals typically do on a daily basis.
Walk Around the Gardens
What I am very impressed with Kuala Lumpur is that growth and development are
steady and despite the many new structures that were built, the government still did
their best to preserve some natural reserves.
The Perdana Botanical Garden is a pretty huge garden where you can find greens and
different animals. Its many walkways make it deal for people who just want to have a
leisurely stroll or for people who want to exercise and get their cardio in for the day.
Eat Until You Cannot Anymore
Kuala Lumpur is known for its diverse food culture and that is evident when you stroll
around the streets of Jalan Alor.
Here, you will find many different food stalls where the staff will convince you to eat in
their establishment. To be honest, I really enjoyed my time here simply because I can
sample flavors from other Asian countries and there are also some European
influencers here as well.
Enjoy the Night
To cap things off, you want to head over to Changkat Avenue where you will find a lot of
different nightspots that you can visit.
Aside from the bars and clubs that you can go to, if you want a quieter environment that
serves some amazing food, you can go to the Havana Bar & Grill.
